Is Freediving Right for You?

The PADI Freediver course is your gateway to this transformative experience. Here’s why you might be a perfect fit:

  • Inner Strength: Freediving cultivates inward power, discipline, and control. It’s a journey of self-discovery.
  • Silent Exploration: Experience the underwater world in a whole new way, free from noise and bubbles.
  • Extend Your Breath: Learn breath-hold techniques to maximize your time underwater.

Ready to Get Started?

The PADI Freediver course is open to anyone 12 years or older with good swimming skills and a sense of adventure. No prior diving experience is necessary!

The Course Breakdown:

The program offers a comprehensive approach to freediving:

  • Knowledge Development: Gain foundational knowledge through PADI’s eLearning platform (available in multiple languages) or instructor-led sessions (if available).
  • Confined Water Training: Master breath-hold techniques, static apnea (holding your breath while still), and dynamic apnea (swimming underwater on a single breath) in a safe pool environment.
  • Open Water Sessions: Put your skills to the test in the ocean, practicing free immersion (descending vertically) and constant weight freediving (using weights for buoyancy control). You’ll also learn essential buddy procedures for safe diving.

Set Your Goals:

The PADI Freediver course aims to help you achieve a static apnea of 90 seconds, a dynamic apnea of 25 meters (80 feet), and a constant weight freedive of 10 meters (30 feet). These are your stepping stones to a world of underwater exploration.

Need to Know

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving.

Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver Medical form to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before enrolling in a scuba course. Instructors, divemasters and dive shop staff are not physicians and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can give medical clearance to dive.

If you (or your physician) have questions about medical fitness to dive, contact the experts at Divers Alert Network (DAN).
